Remarkable
On December 7, 2019, I felt a little remarkable
Something unusual
A distant and far away nuptial
A break away from tradition
A breath of fresh air from tradition
The strength to do it our way
In the way our love naturally flows
In the way our spirits could fly free for just a moment
Free from the tethering of every day life
Free from the opinions of cousins Ed, Edd, and Eddy
From the “friends” who just want to be seen in the scene
From the he said and she saw
I felt a little remarkable
To be standing in agreement with God
Going over our past and dreaming out loud about our future
Feeling the genuine love from our tribe
Our O’hana
Our blood
Our chosen family
Hearing their kind words
Warm well wishes
Authentic joy and gratitude
I felt pretty remarkable
Like a goddess meant for love
Like an angel free to be
Magically happy
Magically me
It felt a little remarkable
The light breeze just off the water
The sound of the ocean waves meeting the rocky shore
The sunlight as the sky opened to wish us well
The breathable air
The sound of baby Ari’s babbling along with our vows
It felt amazingly remarkable
To break outside of the norm
Pick the unfavorable choice
Defy the logic of so many
Distant from the familiar
A destination of The Most High’s choosing
A destination with warm people
And nimble schedules
And calm beaches
And parasailing
My soul felt quite remarkable that day.
A feeling I’ve not felt before
And I’ve been carrying it with me since.
