lf I gave you my heart,
Would you save my life?
Or would you take it?
Would you leave my heart beat-less
Bleeding on Earth’s canvas?
Would you be sure that I could breathe
Before you walked away from me?
If ever my soul was in need of mending,
Would it be too much to ask
If you could percuss it with your intertwined fingers?
Maybe I could catch some air
If I run away right now
Wind ravishing my hair
Running towards security.
Maybe, if I keep my heart in this box,
It won’t ever need saving.
It won’t ever need mending
After you unknowingly break it.
If I gave you my heart,
Would you save my life?
Or would you use my vulnerability
To refuse my inner peace your light.
If I told you my deepest secrets,
Would you use them to heal me?
Or would they be stored in your armory of weapons
For the battle of love and war to use against me?
Forgive me if I seem paranoid.
A bit cautious with emotions out of place.
I’d just like to know…
Before you take my heart on this journey,
Would you save my life, or take it?
