Physician and Epidemiologist Dr. Mary Bassett details her time in Zimbabwe at the start of the AIDS epidemic in Africa and the racial, social, and gender related oppression she witnessed.  In witnessing these atrocities, she notes her regret that she did not speak up.  As New York's current Health Commissioner, Dr. Bassett notes her commitment to combating disparities in the black community and her anger with the medical community for its lack of the use of racism in its research.  Listen to how she describes why our physicians must care about social justice.
