The Root 100, 2015

On September 09, 2015, The Root published their annual “The Root 100” list.  Each year, The Root’s staffers shed light on the work of 100 African-American social activists, entertainers, politicians, business-persons, artists, scientists, athletes, and the like.  The Root does an astounding job of highlighting each individual’s accomplishments, their influence, and what each of them is doing to push the culture forward.  In the spirit of social, cultural, political, and economic advancement, The Root also highlights African-Americans whose works have been gone unnoticed on the national level.  This year, amongst the likes of Shonda Rimes, Kendrick Lamar, Marilyn Mosby, Lebron James, Michael B. Jordan, Russel Wilson, Tessa Thompson, and Mara Brock Akil, are budding activists, artists, and entertainers such as Johnetta Elzie, DeRay McKesson, Jussie Smollet, and Asha Castleberry.  Visit the link to learn more about the 100 most influential African-Americans named so by The Root for the year 2015.
