Nourishing the Kroun: Madame C.J. Walker's Products Are Back!
“Madam C.J. Walker Beauty Culture is taking what Madam Walker envisioned more than 100 years ago to a fresh, new level with products and formulas I believe she might have imagined for the 21st century…In one of her last speeches, Madam Walker emphasized the importance of healthy hair – whether curly-kinky, straight, wavy, or in-between – each style beautiful in its own uniqueness. With this line, every woman can have healthier hair while also confidently expressing her beauty in the best way possible – hers.” said A’Lelia Bundles, great-great granddaughter of Madam C.J. Walker and official Madam C.J. Walker historian and biographer.
Remember the first Black Woman to become a self-made millionaire? Remember her—the first Black American to make a sizable, monetary donation to building a YMCA in Indianapolis, Indiana? Yes, you remember. You certainly remember Madame C. J. Walker. The black woman who, after suffering from a skin illness that attacked her scalp, created her own line of hair care products that catered to Black women’s hair. I know, I’m sure you’re wondering why these facts are even worth mentioning (besides, or course, that Madame C. J. Walker is the epitome of Black Excellence). Well, her products are making a come back in the hair care industry! The owners of one of our beloved hair care brands, SheaMoisture, is bringing this icon’s products back to the market! Sundial is recreating these legendary products as a part of a new launch that will include a full line of hair products called “Madame C. J. Walker Beauty Culture” in the spring of 2016. Sundial says that “The line consists of four collections that address the cleansing, treatment and styling needs of all hair textures.”
Sundial is set to launch the product line exclusively in Sephora. We’ll be sure to sit on the edge of our seats waiting for that faithful email notification.
Thank you Madame C. J. Walker, A’Leila Bundles, Sundial, and Sephora! Nourish your Kroun, Ladies!
