I'll Cuff Myself, Thank you!
Cuffing season, huh?
The season for the insecure to go searching and lurking for a warm body to snuggle in these cold nights?
What about the summer?
When you were dodging the newcomer.
Remember her? The one that you told God you always wanted?
She wasn't good enough for your love in July, so, winter is when you planned to 'woo' her?
Sweep her off her feet so that you can simply warm YOUR feet.
Yet, as soon as the spring's warmer air and lovely leaves meet, you'll want to be free.
No, thank you.
I'll keep my cuffs.
I'll leave them here for a man who thinks my smile is brightest all year round
And who envisions cuddling up with me before fall's leaves hit the ground.
Sorry, I'm not sorry.
You're denied the privilege of picking up my love whenever it's most convenient.
Thinking my heart will tell my better mind to be a little more lenient
Each time you choose to come and go because of the scenery.
Nope.
I'll cuff myself, thank you!
I'll learn a little bit more about why I'm such an introvert during this cuffing season.
And why I want to retreat into my shell of safety, often without reason.
I'll finish these books in the Bible, as I promised myself,
And prepare my body for summer's fitness so that I won't need a waist trainer's help.
I'll cook and dance and sing and write songs and forget about you.
Yeah, most importantly, I'll forget about you.
Because letting go of the boy who thought I was only good for a season is long overdue.
I'll Cuff Myself, Thank you!
