The Poem that Rhymes About Nothing

Maybe if you knew

that I learn something brand spankin’ new

every time I speak to you

You’d be as excited as I am to have my breath taken away

Or that sitting in silence is fine

like measuring each lasting moment of time

as long as we can count the stars

and look for planes

flying to far away places.

Maybe if you knew

that I’m grown because I’ve known you

and that I “adult” a little easier

knowing you’ve always got me.

Maybe if you knew that since Sundays are ours

I pray a little easier

not begging for much but being grateful for much

for you and your conversation and counting those stars I can’t physically touch.

Maybe if you knew

that exploring new foods

makes me think I might know you

like I get to know a piece of you

with every bite of pineapple skewer.

Maybe if you knew

that your thoughts about nothing

match my thoughts of about you.

Maybe if you knew

that I know your truths are true

and that my chill is indeed at an all time high

I’ve just got to get used to living outside of my 3rd eye.

Maybe just maybe if you knew

somehow, I believe you do. :)
